FARMER

Platform Guide

Step 1: Introduction

The agri-food sector stands as a cornerstone of the EU economy, employing approximately 12 million farmers and utilizing nearly half of the EU land territory. Recognized globally for its leadership in food production, the EU agricultural sector plays a pivotal role in ensuring food safety, maintaining quality, and contributing millions of jobs to European citizens. However, it confronts multifaceted challenges such as environmental concerns, climate change, biodiversity loss, resource scarcity (particularly water), decisions on pesticide usage, diseases, soil quality, energy availability, and pricing dynamics. Amidst these challenges, farms are compelled to deliver high-quality products at affordable prices, traceable across the supply chain, while also operating as closely to end consumers as possible, all under the constant pressure of sustaining farm revenues and profitability.

Project Goals:

  1. a) Elevate the resilience, productivity, and competitiveness of target groups by enhancing their risk management competence and capabilities in the context of business operations and management.
  2. b) Employ digital tools and modern technology for the identification, assessment, evaluation, monitoring, and control of risks.

To achieve these goals, we have developed the MY E-FARM platform. Farmers can assess their knowledge, receive feedback on areas that require improvement, and gain insights on how to enhance their practices.

Step 2: Accessing the Resilience Tool

To access the MY E-FARM tool, locate the MY E-FARM button on the top info bar. Clicking on it will lead you directly to the test, enabling you to begin promptly.

Step 3: Taking the Test

Upon commencing the FARMER Score My Resilience Tool, a NEXT button will appear, initiating the test by clicking on it. The 22-question test, covering various aspects of the FaRMER Course, evaluates your knowledge and identifies areas for improvement. Questions encompass multiple formats, including true/false, yes/no, frequency assessments, disaster avoidance strategies, and selecting appropriate answers.

Step 4: Receiving the Resilience Score and Understanding the Score

Upon completing the test, you will receive a score ranging from 0 to 22. This numerical value reflects your preparedness and recommends specific course segments for knowledge enhancement.

Step 5: Learning and Improvement

Post-test completion, recommendations for focused learning will be provided. Hover over the MY E-FARM tab to reveal four options: Score My Resilience Tool, FaRMER Resilience Methodology (divided into six segments), FaRMER Course (divided into four modules), and FaRMER Pilot Study, where you can explore farmers’ experiences from each country who underwent the material. Once you choose the segment or module, click on it and you will be given all the needed information regarding that subject.

Step 6: Retaking the Test

After implementing changes and improvements, revisit the Score My Resilience Tool to retake the test. Continuous self-assessment is crucial for ongoing growth. The test can be taken multiple times, with different questions in each iteration.
